Things you should know about a CSA
Please, understand when you join, there are risks in joining a CSA. For example, last year was an extremely challenging season (the wettest year in our area's history) and although we were able to provide produce we did have crop failures on some items including green beans and carrots and the start of our season was delayed by two weeks.
This is not to say that the risk does not extend to full loss of crops, we know of a CSA who lost 12 weeks of their 2011 season to a hail storm which destroyed a huge majority of their crops. In our ten years of operation we have never had a complete loss, however we have started our season late, started our season early, and had losses of items. As we have become more experienced we feel that the risk for members has been decreased, although it still exists.
Things you should know about our CSA
We have been a CSA for 10 years. We started with 10 families in 2002. In 2012 we expect to serve over 150 families with around 120 memberships.
We understand affording a CSA can be a challenge to many family's budgets. We are willing to work with you on payment schedules and offer a limited number of "work shares." Be sure to let us know if you want a space but cannot meet the payment schedules.
All pickups are on our farm on Sunday, Wendsday, or Friday. We will be offering delivery to Hudson in 2012 for the first time on Thursdays for a fee. Picking up on your assigned day is your responsibility.
We do our best to grow everything ourselves, however, we reserve the right to get produce or items from other local farms in order to keep your boxes full and the variety up if need be.
If you are interested in our CSA please email us and we will send you a packet with additional information and a CSA contract.
